Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates is scheduled to visit Fort Polk today to observe soldiers training at the Joint Readiness Training Center.
Gates will be observing soldiers from the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, according to information from Fort Polk.
Gates became Defense secretary last December, succeeding Donald Rumsfeld. He previously served as director of the Central Intelligence Agency.
