Rush Limbaugh Dropped From Ram's Bid List

Actually I'm intrested in knowing if this is just about bigotry or if certain people are appaulding this because of Limbaughs politics.

That Limbaugh is a fringe idiot is not in question, but if this were to happen to oh say Chris Matthews would people get in a tizzy about to the opposite end?

If O'Rielly or Hannity attempted to buy into a team would that cause a stir?

I also find it amusing that people are willing to dismiss convicted felons as well they screwed up, yet want to crucify an idiot who,s made some bigoted remarks while dismissing another who has made equally bigoted remarks as a slip of the tongue.

As far as the Rams needing a moron. Well no they have more than enough.Offense, Defense and Coaching Staff.

Funny how bigotry can become a main tool in an argument in one thread, and yet be dismissed as invalid in another. Very funny.

03, that was a joke... As indicated by the "Heh" after it. But it's like mmarsh said... One or two homophobic slurs isn't the same as Monday-Friday 4 hour white supremacist rants for 20 years.

Bob and weave

Deflect by bringing up another thread

Justify one over the other because your argument actually had nothing to do with bigotry and everything to do with politics.

If you could you'd blame the Rams sucking on the war in Iraq.

Typical Henderson

Oh, how true!

Come on, guys, don't get so personal over this!

03, I think American Society is at a level right now where a gay slur or two is still passable as a slip of the tongue, but nothing severe. But what Limbaugh has said may have been passable as a slip 40 years ago, but today it's pretty severely frowned upon. That's the difference between Larry Johnson's comments and Rush Limbaugh's. Both slurs, both wrong, but one more so in the present day.

Are you kidding?
Saying a gay slur could have gotten me deported as far back as 2000. One of the gay roommates used that one to death. He could go off saying all kinds of racist stuff since I was a non citizen but if I said a word about his sexual orientatoin, he could take that to the authorities and that could start my deportation proceedings.
These guys are a lot more protected than you think.

I can answer that.

If Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann, Sean Hannity, or even the screwier end like Glenn Beck had a long history of making degrogatory comments about Black people I would agree with you. But they don't, but Rush and O'Reilly do. Show me a liberal going on a 20 year tirade against black people and Ill readily agree that they shouldnt own a NFL team either.

And remember the team owners are OVERWHEMING conservative, in terms of politics they most likely AGREE with Rush. They gave over a $1.5 Million in political contributions to the GOP last election. Thats whats so pathetic about Rush whine that he's being persecuted. The NFL owners are cut from the same cloth as Rush and they didnt want him around, hes got "BAD FOR BUSINESS" aura all around him.

Are there people that are happy to see Rush take a fall? Yes, I am one of them and its not just his political views I dislike, there are lots of conservatives I respect but disagree with and I have no problem with them owning a sports team.

But Rush is truly a nasty piece of work, I thought his on air mockery of Michael J. Fox Parkinsons disease (because MJF dared make an ad that supports stem-cell research) showed what a utterly loathsome excuse for a human being he is. It isnt that Rush is conservative, its that hes a horrible person, and yes I am enoying his misfortune couldn't have happened to a nicer person. I can tell you this, the line is going to be very long for people to take a dump on this POS's grave.

I'm not a fan of Limbaugh but why not be concerned? It's a case that warrants a bit of righteous indignation. Regardless of how you feel about what he might have said, to be fair this is political correctness gone wild. What did Rush actually say? Let's see an example of what was so horrible:
"I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well,'' Limbaugh said. "There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve. The defense carried this team."

This was in way back in 2003 when he was doing some commentating for the Eagles.

What's he say about this?
The players association is using my involvement with the Rams and this whole episode as a bit of leverage in their negotiations, their upcoming negotiations, with the league and with the owners on a new collective bargaining agreement," Limbaugh said. "That is what is really going on."

Hmmm, could there be a grain of truth there that the some people can't see?

Mighty

He played the race card in a situation that didnt call for it because the truth is: he doesnt know anything about football.

Had he left out "black" he probably wouldnt have gotten in any trouble. But he went out of his way (like he always does) to point out that McNabb was Black and that he was supported solely by the Media because he was Black. Just like he does to Obama.

And it was offensive, even his follow commentators at ESPN thought it was a offensive remark.

As for the last part that might have some grain of truth. But whats equally true is that Limbaugh always seems to blame other people for his problems. His ESPN comments was the fault of the left, so was his doctor-shopping prosecution, so was getting busted for unproscibed viagra, so was getting booted from the NFL ownership. He rarely takes responsibilty for his own actions.

Here is the thing. This never went to Owner Vote, Limbaugh was dropped from the invest group he was part of that was trying to buy the Rams, because it was effecting their attempt to buy the Rams.

Two Points;

Why anyone would want the Rams is beyond me. You would probably be better off sponsering a Pop Warner team. You'd get better quality of play and probably bigger crowds.

Both sides are giving Limbaugh what he wants with this. He's an attention ***** and hes lovin every damn day this goes on.

This is a big deal because the people who don't like his political views want it to be. I don't hear anyone attacking Bob Greise for his comment last weekend, so that tells me this isn't as much about bigotry as it is about hate for Rush.

True. But the owners do get a say of who gets to joins their exclusive cabal. The investor group did the owners a giant favor. Those owners that went on the record didnt sound very happy he was involved.

Why would someone want the RAMS: Massive Ego. Which fits Rush Limbaugh completely. Personally I think Rush would be better off sponsoring a mini-league team (the 6-8 year old clubs) as they actually know more about football than he does. They can explain it to him and they can at his level so he doesnt get confused.

And Yes Rush is certain enjoying the infamy. In his business, bad press is better than no press.

John Lydon

Its not that hes politically consevative John (thats what he'd like you to believe) its because he's offensive, something he does not accidentally but deliberately. He makes millions by being the nastiest jerk on radio. The point is this, if the dittoheads want to listen to Rush let them do so on his radio show. Nobody should be forced to listen to him in the NFL. This is not Mother Teresa we are talking about.

Well then all we have to do is get Limbaugh to become a Korean citizen, and all problems are solved.
