Attack on Polish soldiers in Afghanistan

TVN24

A Polish patrol has been shelled at in Afghanistan, 5 kilometers from the Sharana base, at 0100 hours local time. Nobody has been injured. This is the second attack on Polish contingent during the last two days. According to Maj. Mirosław Ochyra, a spokesman for Polish Military Contingent, Polish soldiers has been shot at with anti-armor grenade launchers and machine guns.

According to Marcin Firlej, a TVN24 reporter, six grenades were shot towards the armored carrier "Rosomak", two of them on target. The occupants of the vehicle have been saved by additional armor - mounted on Polish carriers in the midst of the mission to Afghanistan. The Poles responded with fire and consequently the attackers immediately withdrew. The patrol returned to base. A quick response force sent from Sharana base did not found any trace of enemy around.

This is the second attack on Poles during the last two days. On Wednesday midnight a Polish OMLT vehicle hit an IED.
Once again "Rosomak" proved itself to be very evective on the battlefield - good that no one was hurt.

I am very satisfied that this vehicle is performing so good because many people criticized the idea of obtaining AMV's for the Polish Army.

Good news and I bet the families of those soldiers aren't complaining.

Sounds like it's a bit better than the Humvee.

the_13th_redneck I don't know why you are comparing "Rosomak" (first pic) to a Humvee (they are completely different class of vehicles).

Maybe you were thinking about "Tur" (second pic) which is not in service in Afghanistan yet ?

"Rosomak"

"Tur"
