Absolutely invaluable for COIN I think.
Guerrillas will have a much much harder time hiding in forested areas.
There are many other places they can hide, but denying one of them is a step in the right direction.

I don't believe it's ever going to be in service though. Actual radar technology might end up being used, but Helos by it's nature are bit too vulnerable to be let out without human "self preservation wits"

It can hover at very high altitudes and that's probably how it'll be used.

I wonder how far this thing would list to one side if you placed a hellfire missile on it. Thinking along the famous predator story where it did begin life as imgaging and survalience plaform, then developed into a weapons plaform with eagle eyes. The uniqe ability to have an insurgent hunting aircraft, that can also give the operators out of harms way, the capability to take direct action against high value targets or something of the sort would be a clever design.

But, seeing as this robo copter can see through trees solves the problems that agent orange couldn't.

"This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience"- Dwight D. Eisenhower , Jan 17,1961.
