I have a good friend who was in the Korengal valley right before this documentary was shot. What is really a shame is that the group he was with was there 6 months longer(A 1/32 INF), saw a lot more stuff happen and got none of the credit.

If you want to read about some of the things that happened before this documentary read the book Landigal by James F. Christ.

BTW, we abandoned the Korangal outpost. Shame all of the hard work done by these outstanding Americans was pissed away.

Quote:
After years of sustained fighting and casualties with little evident progress, the US military closed Korangal Outpost on April 14, 2010. Forty-two American service men died fighting in the Korangal and hundreds were wounded, primarily between the years of 2006 and 2009. Many Afghan soldiers died there as well, in part because they had poorer equipment. The valley has been dubbed "The Valley of Death" by American forces.

Gunner. Sabot. Sniper. Is not an appropriate use of ammunition.

I gotta check it out.
Yeah, credit etc., seems to depend on whether or not a talented film crew/reporter is embedded with you or not. Hence the saying... if a bamboo falls in the forest and no one hears it, does it make a sound? Or some sh1t like that.
