Could anyone explain what "redleg" and "redneck" mean in military sense?

Redneck is slang for ... I dunno, somebody who grew up on a farm and may or may not have completed the third grade.

yeah i live in Texas and a redneck is a slang for someone who drives a truck, wear boots and tight pants, also known has hicks or kickers.

yeah the redneck is easy to understand cuz it is about farmers who work on fields and got their necks burnt red by sun
