Post; Raiders' Lamont Jordan tears knee ligament

Associated Press

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Oakland running back LaMont Jordan is likely out for the season with a serious injury to his left knee on Sunday.
"Jordan's prognosis is that he tore his MCL (medial cartilage ligament)," Raiders coach Art Shell said after the 17-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Jordan was helped off the field in the first quarter Sunday after a 12-yard gain. He rushed for 34 yards on five carries before the injury, bringing his season total to a team-leading 434 yards on 114 carries. Jordan, who went to Maryland, is a six-year NFL veteran and in his second season with the Raiders.
The Raiders also lost starting left tackle Robert Gallery with a dislocated left elbow in the third quarter.
"When I fell, I put my hand on the ground and somebody fell into me and it popped," Gallery said. "They said there was no damage to the bone, which is good. I'll wait until tomorrow to see how much I tore as far as ligaments. We've got six weeks to go. I hope I can get back."
Gallery was a 2004 first-round pick out of Iowa.
