This is not an exact translation of the quote, but " boot, don't spatter 'em" is not quite what he meant - at least according to Hasso von Manteuffel. The above is his translation from an interview that was done for The World At War series. He gave this translation on camera while reading from his war diary, so I think he is correct. Anyway, it fits better with my reading of Guderian's stuff (sounds better too!)
