Questions about Army and Marines info

Ok, so I know that I want to either join the Marines or Army when I get out of college. But I don't exactly know the difference between the two. The only thing I know that's different about them is that the Army has Airborne Divisions and the Marines don't. Could anyone give me a description of both of them. Like what is good about the Marines that's not good about the Army. And what's good about the Army that's not good about the Marines. And what do the Marines have that the Army doesn't? And what does the Army have that the Marines don't? Which one has the armored divisions or is it both? Are the Marines really the first ones to go into battle or is that just some crazy thing I've heard? If I have anymore questions that I forgot to ask, I'll post em, but I think these are the most important to me right now. Thanks a lot!

My 10 year experience in the US military showed me that the unit you are assigned to makes more of a difference than branch or even MOS. As a forward observer, my day-to-day military life was completely different when I served in a cav unit in West Germany, when I served in a mech infantry unit in Louisiana, and when I served in an armored battalion in Kansas.

I know there are specialities that the Marines develop that regular Army doesn't, but there are also Rangers, SF, and even Navy SEAL's who handle a lot of special missions. I do believe that Marines serve a primary security on US embassies around the world.

I'm sure you'll get some good pointers from folks around here.

Good Luck.

There is also a huge amount of info on the Marines and the Army in seperate threads. Look around in the "Joining the Military? Basic Training and Military Service Questions" Forum
