Thanks, yes that explains a lot. My friend's Mother was Messianic Jew so that was the way he was raised. He was Bar Mitzvahed at 13 like everyone else and his family studied Torah. I think that his Father was more of a True Torah Jew but not activist as Zionists. I know he spoke of friction in the family from time to time but both his parents are deceased now.
