I dont disagree, however the tool to be used for that are Hondurans at the Ballot Box not the military. I'm a staunch believer in Manifest Destiny, that people are entitled to choose the type of government they want. If they are dumb enough to want someone like Chavez its unfortunate, but it is their right. No one has the right to interfere, domestically or internationally.

Its not up to the military to play kingmaker, and its happened too often in South America and Africa that Presidents rise and fall at the hands of their Preatorian Guard. Such coups should only happen in the most absolute of extreme of circumstances not because the elected leader is a Edith Bunker Dingbat.

Which is why I was angry at Bush for trying to overthrow Chavez. I dont like Chavez, but what right did the US have to try and support such an action? How would we have reacted if Bush had tried to overthrow Bush?
Why would Bush overthrow himself? In the case of Honduras it's not a case of the military deciding to do something. They have a defined role in the Govt & they legally fullfilled the role. Not a military coup by any definition.

marsh your missing it.

The Honduran Armed Forces full filled their obligation under the Honduran Constitution. They did not plan or orchestrate the removal of Zelaya. The decison was made by the Honduran National Congress, The Honduran Supreme Court and the Honduran Minister of Justice. The Honduran Military who ultimately answer to the armed forces council of the Congress carried out a legal and constitutional directive to remove Zelaya, per Honduran law. A Civilian was installed not a military junta. Elections will be held in November as scheduled. There is
outside interference, it's coming from the US, UN, EU and OAS, at the behest of Chavez et al.

Could go that way

BTW: El Sal recently elected a socialist along the lines of Zelaya and Chavez. Domino effect is eating Latin America.

Truly unfortunate.
Seems like there's no shortage of suffering down there.

You'd need an administration that wasn't in appeasement mode.

You'd need an administration who's foriegn policy advisors and Sec of State actually understand foriegn policy.

Won't happen anytime soon.

You mean an administration that bangs down the door and runs in, guns blazing, without actually CONFIRMING it's intelligence???

No lil boy. I mean an administration who hasn't shown the propensity to throw it's allies under the bus in order to appease anti-US interests so they can look like polar oppisite of the last administration.

So eithier keep up with the discussion, or stop popping off with your indigent outburst any time some questions the current administrations motives or policies. Your just popping off to pop off and it adds nothing to the discussion.
