I don't think it's a lack of concern I think the current administration is overly concerned with appeasing the likes of Chavez and his buddies. To the extent of lacking judgement on the Honduran issue.

Seems like the accusations of being politically friendly to Socialist gov's in General may be rooted in some truth. How deeply rooted we have yet to see.

Honduras has been an important ally for us in CA for years......so mark up another one dumped.

Actually the sanctions and withdrawal of aid is a pretty smart move if your wanting a socialist revolution within that country. Honduras is poor any loss of a financial nature is going to hit it's economy hard.

People make less money, services start to falter and the little guy starts thinking "Gee maybe Zelaya wasn't that bad. We never had these problems then." Then you throw in some socialist prop-agit organizers provided by Chavez and Danny Ortega to stir it up and you have a Socialist Peoples revolution and Chavez is fat and happy and the US has abetted it.

So... Poland, Czech Republic, Honduras... the list keeps growing.
Dunno about Georgia.. they made it real hard for everyone. But I have a feeling that just about every Eastern European country that supported the US is going to have a hard few years up ahead.

The list will keep growing as long as the brain trust in charge of foriegn policy continues along the appeasement path.

The current administration IMHO is trying to foster a perception that they are more caring and open towards anti-american posturing nations and are working with them......for the greater good. Thats all fine and good, but if you keeping giving the bully your lunch money eventually your crediabilty tanks with the rest of the kids.

So apparently Senor Socialista is back in Honduras and has taken refuge in Brazils Embassy. Things are gonna get interesting. The Obama administration along with the UN and OSA have stated that even if Hondruas holds elections they won't recognize the results as long as Zelaya is deposed.

I believe this election is the regular scheduled presidential election. Since under Honduran law Zelaya would not be able to run for an additional term, what grounds does the US have for not recognizing the results?

What the line is, is this. Zelaya was "illegally" removed from office by a military coup. This despite the fact that the attorney general, supreme court and National Congress of Honduras held that was attepmting to illegally circumvent their Constitution.

Never mind that there are no Military Officers controlling the Honduran Goverment.

The real reason is that Chavez, Castro, Morales, Correa, Ortega and the Socialist Goverment in bRazil all had hissy fits because a Socialist was deposed.

None of them give a damn about Honduras, Constitution. It's about furthering the spread of Socialism in Latin America.

So if Honduras defending it's Constitution gets that treatment whos next.

It just doesn't sit well with Liberals that the military in Honduras fullfilled it's role in the Govt system it has.

I dont disagree, however the tool to be used for that are Hondurans at the Ballot Box not the military. I'm a staunch believer in Manifest Destiny, that people are entitled to choose the type of government they want. If they are dumb enough to want someone like Chavez its unfortunate, but it is their right. No one has the right to interfere, domestically or internationally.

Its not up to the military to play kingmaker, and its happened too often in South America and Africa that Presidents rise and fall at the hands of their Preatorian Guard. Such coups should only happen in the most absolute of extreme of circumstances not because the elected leader is a Edith Bunker Dingbat.

Which is why I was angry at Bush for trying to overthrow Chavez. I dont like Chavez, but what right did the US have to try and support such an action? How would we have reacted if Bush had tried to overthrow Bush?
