As for most historically significant that would have to be the French 75 Modele 1897. That gun put an end to having to relaying the gun after every round and changed artillery forever. That gun was why WWI was an artillery war and why artillery is still the weapon that inflicts the most casualties on the enemy - other than aircraft of course. |
The Crusader is a U.S design that was placed on the shelf due to funding, the Germans do not use it because they have their fairly new system called PZH2000, which is rated as one of the best Self propelled guns in the world for a European fight, they seem to have some barrel overheating issues currently though while in use in Afghanistan.
