I've been watching to see when Iraq would make it into the main stream political race between McCain and Obama. The first sign was when people went nuts over McCain's comment that we would be in Iraq for the next 100 years. Then came Obama's claim to pull out all troops from Iraq. He hinted at slowing down that pace to maintain security of US operations. Critics pounced on his speech and he quickly issued a counter speech the next day. Now it seems McCain and Obama have their hands in the cookie jar when it comes to "saving money" from a draw down in Iraq. McCain declares that the saved money would be used to reduce the deficit while ""Sen. Obama's proposals identify reduced expenditures and sources of additional revenue that together more than pay for his middle-class tax cuts, health care plan, and other initiatives," said Obama economic adviser Dan Tarullo." Reducing a deficit sounds like a good idea but the cost of redeployment may cost more than what is currently spent to run the war. Mr. Obama is insane since we are currently running a $300 billion deficit. His plan would reduce the deficit some and then add more to the deficit. There's a winner of a plan.

The whole point of this ramble is I am really sick of politics, more so than I ever have been. I find myself becoming more Libertarian (minus the 24/7 porn on TV and abolishing the US military) every day. As November approaches, I ponder if I should vote for McCain, Obama or write in my dog (who may stand a chance of running the government better than those elected officials who currently sit on the hill). Yes Mr Cafferty I agree, vote all the bums out.

In the long run, we will not be saving money because we would have to go back there to do it all over again. If we leave any time soon, the past five years have been a waste and all the Americans that died, died for politics. Or, at least, that's the way it would seem to me anyway.

Also, Doody, if your going to be in the military still under the next admin, I strongly suggest you vote for McCain because the alternative will take away your rifles and issue bags of rubber bands.

You can just disband the military except the coast guard. That'll really save money.

The alternative probably would, at least try. New military uniform, camouflage tighty whiteys, tank tops and shower shoes. ooh-Rah!

Lets talk about the Obama trip to Iraq as part of a "congressional delegation" so it is fully funded by the government. You have to be kidding me...congressional delegation BS. This trip is a campaign tour by Obama and everyone knows it. I know McCain and others are guilty of trips like this too and I am completely against those as well. I am sure I will have more to complain about from the 2008 Obama campaign tour of the Middle East and Europe.

Crap like what I wrote above just makes me mad (I am being nice with my language). I know 5.56 is with me on this one. Man I am mad.

The only real way to save money, would be to send all American troops back home. This would also reduce the danger of ever more Moslems having a reason to hate the USA. Terror does not grow on trees, it is a reaction to false foreign policies. Policies which are to blame for the death of too many young Americans during the last fifty years.

Thanks to what the US did from 1917 to at LEAST 1992(?) the world was a much better place. Several generations of MILLIONS of people across the world enjoy a level of freedom and wealth that would have never been possible without America's help. Although there are protesters, there are still people who remember the help that America gave. Unfortunately they are mostly very old now.
And if you need proof on who these people who enjoy a better life thanks to America's intervention are, I'm just one of them and there are millions like myself. Unfortunately most of them seem to forget that America helped their society to be free and wealthy.
