Post; Polish soldier injured in shootout in Iraq

WARSAW, Poland - (AP) A Polish soldier was in stable condition
following injuries suffered during a shootout between insurgents and Polish,
U.S. and Iraqi troops in central Iraq, a military spokesman said Tuesday.
The injured corporal, who was not immediately identified, was
treated at a U.S. military hospital following the incident, which took place
late Monday, said Col. Zdzislaw Gnatowski, the spokesman for the Polish army
chief of staff.
Two suspected insurgents were killed in the action, near the city of
Hamza, and four others were detained, Gnatowski said.
