| Milforums Spamkiller | Post; Poland to maintain troops in IraqWARSAW, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- The Polish government will remain its troops in Iraq until the middle of 2006, local media reported on Thursday. According to daily Rzeczpospolita, Polish soldiers dispatched in south-central Iraq would be declined to 900 from 1,400. The number has been cut from 2,400 since last January. Quoting an unnamed senior army officer, the daily said that training exercises for new troops going to Iraq will be held in January. On Wednesday, Polish Prime Minister Marcinkiewicz said in Iraq that his government will make a careful decision on whether to keep troops in Iraq. "We must make this decision carefully because it is important not only for Poland but also in a wider sense -- in the war against terrorism and for the stability of Iraq," said Marcinkiewicz. The previous government, which lost power after September's elections,once intended to pull troops out of Iraq at the beginning of next year.Enditem
