| Tribunus Laticlavius | Silence by Thomas Hood There is a silence where hath been no sound, There is a silence where no sound may be, In the cold grave--under the deep, deep sea, Or in wide desert where no life is found, Which hath been mute, and still must sleep profound; No voice is hush'd--no life treads silently, But clouds and cloudy shadows wander free, That never spoke, over the idle ground: But in green ruins, in the desolate walls Of antique palaces, where Man hath been, Though the dun fox or wild hyaena calls, And owls, that flit continually between, Shriek to the echo, and the low winds moan-- There the true Silence is, self-conscious and alone.

| Tribuni Angusticlavii | I wrote the finishing touches on this one last night...It has many influences but mainly it was for my boys serving, the girls they and we all love, and well life in general...Someone asked me who it was for and I said "The World" lol, no really...So read it and tell me what you think Angelic Thoughts I made a decision today, with that said, may our dreams come true Keep with it so bright, patients now you will see this is far from through Though I may have had a few years, and possibly a few too many beers We sat, reminisced, and drank; we shed our tears and shared our fears When do we see this sparkling light, with her, an epiphany Sounds tremble and move just subtle nuances in perfect harmony In a way that is life, such a grand symphony With great intoxication, let be the dreams of both happy and hurt. A simple moment. As the stars and us unite As our battle rages in the deep black darkness of night A warrior sits alone. With only the thoughts of an angel to fuel his courage and might Her eyes sparkle brilliantly even on the darkest of nights providing the light that guides him into the fight This angelic creature, he has to thank, with her smile greater then the brightest sunshine Thoughts of this angel is all he needs to carry him through the day giving hope, making everything just fine I see the light and then truly, everything is just fine

| Spam King | THE PRETENDER I'm going to rent myself a house In the shade of the freeway I'm going to pack my lunch in the morning And go to work each day And when the evening rolls around Ill go on home and lay my body down And when the morning light comes streaming in Ill get up and do it again Amen Say it again Amen I want to know what became of the changes We waited for love to bring Were they only the fitful dreams Of some greater awakening I've been aware of the time going by They say in the end its the wink of an eye And when the morning light comes streaming in You'll get up and do it again Amen Caught between the longing for love And the struggle for the legal tender Where the sirens sing and the church bells ring And the junk man pounds his fender Where the veterans dream of the fight Fast asleep at the traffic light And the children solemnly wait For the ice cream vendor Out into the cool of the evening Strolls the pretender He knows that all his hopes and dreams Begin and end there Ah the laughter of the lovers As they run through the night Leaving nothing for the others But to choose off and fight And tear at the world with all their might While the ships bearing their dreams Sail out of sight I'm going to find myself a girl Who can show me what laughter means And well fill in the missing colors In each others paint-by-number dreams And then well put out dark glasses on And well make love until our strength is gone And when the morning light comes streaming in Well get up and do it again Get it up again I'm going to be a happy idiot And struggle for the legal tender Where the ads take aim and lay their claim To the heart and the soul of the spender And believe in whatever may lie In those things that money can buy Thought true love could have been a contender Are you there? Say a prayer for the pretender Who started out so young and strong Only to surrender -By Jackson Browne

| Tribunus Laticlavius | Yeah - that's life, kid. And this is the search :- Eldorado by Edgar Allan Poe Gaily bedight, A gallant knight, In sunshine and in shadow, Had journeyed long, Singing a song, In search of Eldorado. But he grew old - This knight so bold - And o'er his heart a shadow Fell as he found No spot of ground That looked like Eldorado. And, as his strength Failed him at length, He met a pilgrim shadow - 'Shadow,' said he, 'Where can it be - This land of Eldorado?' 'Over the Mountains Of the Moon, Down the Valley of the Shadow, Ride, boldly ride,' The shade replied - 'If you seek for Eldorado!' Last edited by Del Boy; October 2nd, 2008 at 17:00. |
