I'm surprised I never got one of these. Redneck certainly got mad enough several times. I just stopped in to see if I still remembered my password. No intention to really post, yall have grown to be too large for my comfort. Even though my opinions have gone from ultraconservative to ultraliberal since I've been here I expect that will make me less welcome than before. Good to see there are still plenty of quotes and growing.

Don't know if this would be the appropriate spot for this or not but I think it is. I am a mod on a closed forum and had a conversation with a mod from one of these open forums. They have had a consistent problem with trolls and I referred her to this site for guidance. I think the rules are written in plain easy to understand english without trying to sound like some barracks lawyer trying to scare people in complying.

Further, the moderating on this board is fair, even handed and consistent. You may not agree with it all the time but it is never personal, it is always professional and done with great tact and directness.

In my opinion the "Hall of Shame" is a stroke of genius. Most people need concrete examples of what will not fly on a board. Rules are great but examples of enforcement are even better for those who don't get it right away. It reminds me of a "boot hill" outside of town you see as you ride in... makes you pause if you're up to no good as you ride past the dead who have gone before.

The civility with which so many controversial subjects are conversed upon here with so many people from divergent backgrounds and worldviews is a testament in and of itself.

Kudos to the forum staff, thanks.

If I am asked what we are fighting for, I can reply in two sentences. In the first place, to fulfil a solemn international obligation . . . an obligation of honor which no self-respecting man could possibly have repudiated. I say, secondly, we are fighting to vindicate the principle that small nationalities are not to be crushed in defiance of international good faith at the arbitrary will of a strong and overmastering Power.

He won't be missed. The quality of his/her? posts left much to be desired.
