As to Pearl Harbor leading to the US involvement in Europe in WWII you are forgetting one very big thing. Hitler declared war on _us_. He did so in his _only_ declaration of war on December 8th. Obviously, he was hoping to influence Japan into joining his fight with Russia by joining their fight with the Americans.

If I am asked what we are fighting for, I can reply in two sentences. In the first place, to fulfil a solemn international obligation . . . an obligation of honor which no self-respecting man could possibly have repudiated. I say, secondly, we are fighting to vindicate the principle that small nationalities are not to be crushed in defiance of international good faith at the arbitrary will of a strong and overmastering Power.

Pearl Harbour was attaked on October 1941, and Hitler declared war to US on December. Us was already in war.

I see our text books are wrong, and we are remembering Pearl Harbour a few months late. I've been told by Vets and historians we were attacked on "Dec. 7th 1941, a date which will live in infamy..."

I'm still laughing. Pearl Harbor was indeed December 7th and Hitler's declaration of war against us was exactly one day later. Why should anybody listen to a single thing you say if you can make such a grievious error as that?
