One Pakistani national was killed in an encounter and another arrested by the Anti-Terrorism Squad from Antop Hill in in Mumbai on Tuesday.

An AK-47 rifle and a sizeable quantity of RDX was also seized from them, police said.

One of the two Pakistani nationals Riyaz Nawabuddin was arrested late Monday night by the ATS on a tip-off, police said. The team then went to the Central Government Scheme colony in the Antop Hill area to apprehend his colleague who opened fire at them.

The ATS team fired in retaliation in which the second Pakistani suspect, identified as Mohammed Ali alias Abu Osama, was killed.

Riyaz Nawabuddin will be produced in court later on Tuesday, police said.

The encounter took place at around 4.30 am, Additional Commissioner of Police (ATS) Jaijeet Singh told PTI.

Asked if the encounter was linked to the July 11 serial train blasts in Mumbai, which had killed around 200 and injured over 700 persons, Singh declined to comment.
Peace
