| 100% Space Shuttle Door Gunner | Post; Okay here is a tough one for you guys....Well as most folks here know, I'm prior service with the US Army and currently I'm a certified Florida Police Officer. But I've been thinking of re-upping. Expect this time its not into the Army its into the US Coast Guard. From what I understand, the USCG falls under federal law enforcement when their stateside and that their reservist are the ones that do most of the LEO work. I live in Miami and I want to continue my LEO career by going federal. Is anyone here a former Coastie or a current Coastie? What is their basic training like for prior service members? Is law enforcement duty a MOS or is it just a duty station? Lastly, since I'm also a State cerified LEO, what does that count for during my enlistment? Would I get any higher pay grade because of my past service in the Army or would I be able to re-enlist at my last pay grade?

I will mete out temporary bans to anyone who fails to follow the special rules for posting in this forum.(Facts Only, NOT Fiction! - EVERYONE READ HERE BEFORE POSTING) The man is looking for answers not conjecture, or guesses, or third or fourth hand information from your second cousin's sister-in-law who was married to a Coast Guard reservist. You get the drift.

| Godfather | From the official Coast Guard website... Does the Coast Guard take people with prior military service? The Coast Guard is hiring prior-service people. Call 1-877-NOW-USCG and speak with the recruiter nearest you to determine eligibility and pay grade upon entry. http://www.uscg.mil/uscg.shtm |
