Reuters - President Barack Obama on Thursday ordered the closure of the Guantanamo military prison within a year and a halt to harsh interrogation of terrorism suspects, moving quickly to restore the U.S. image abroad.

[Chief Bones]

Pres. Obama didn't take very long to keep one of his campaign promises. First he placed a 120 day moratorium on any legal proceedings against those imprisoned in Gitmo (within minutes of taking office), and now he has signed an executive order that will result in closure of the Gitmo prison facilities within one year.

Very good ... an auspicious beginning. Lets hope he is as successful fulfilling the rest of his promises.
