| Forum Barbecuer | Post; Norwegian ISAF unit escaped attack by suicide bomberSource: Norwaypost.com Two Norwegian military vehicles were hit by a suicide bomber in the centre of the Afghanistan capital Kabul on Friday morning. None of the Norwegian soldiers were injured, but the suicide bomber died in the blast. A man drove a car loaded with explosives inn between the two Norwegian vehicles and detonated the bomb. The suicide bomber died, and two passers-by were injured, NRK reports. The attack occured on the road between the zoo and the former royal palace, near the entrance to the building where the new national assembly is due to meet on Monday. It is thought that the attack was directed against the ISAF force in Afghanistan, and press spokesman for the Norwegian Central Defence Command, Thom Knudstad, says the attack will have no direct consequence for the Norwegian forces in Afghanistan. Norway has a little more than 400 soldiers deployed in Afghanistan, most of them still in Kabul.

Why can't all suicide attacks be like this, where only the attacker dies... I have many friends down there, so I'm really glad to hear that no soldiers where killed or injured (this time..)... ![]() | |
