LISBON, Dec 28, 2006 (AFP) - The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) have been ordered to reopen the doping case against Benfica midfielder Nuno Assis which their disciplinary commission decided not to pursue earlier this year. The decision comes after Portuguese Secretary of State for Youth Laurentino Dias on Thursday backed the Attorney General's opinion that the FPF had violated the law. The 29-year-old Assis was provisionally suspended after testing positive for the steroid 19-Norandrosterone last December following a Portuguese first division game.
