| Tirones | Post; New book with Marine as main characterLast week, the first issue (0) of my comic, Faction, was released and is up for sale (more to follow). I thought I'd share some of the story with you guys to see what you think. If you'd like to check it out, great! If not, just consider it a shout out to all of the military out there past and present who live and who we've lost and those who left a little behind, emotionally or physically. God bless! FACTION The year is 2025 and the worlds’ governments are focused on eradicating the escalating terrorist threat in the Middle East secretly supported by the demonic Den Malignity. This effort has left Master Sergeant Acker Kinney, a Special Ops Medic, scarred and short an arm, forever changed. When Acker is attacked by a demonic minion while recovering from his wounds in a military hospital, he is saved by Knights from the Society of the Enlightened. Soon he will be one of them; men and women blessed by God with countless lifetimes of knowledge and rediscovered powers. The Society and the Den Malignity, enemies in an eternal struggle, must react when other factions, long thought banished or destroyed, rise to reclaim what was theirs. The Society and its knights must determine in this changed landscape who their allies and enemies are as factions vie for a stake in the world’s destiny. The schemes of gods, the desires of demons, the powers of nature, myth, and the supernatural – all set forth to control a world the Society has sworn to protect. This is Faction. Oh, just to follow up on the Marine medic thing... Ft. Bragg has a 22 week program to train Marines to be Special Ops Medics. There may not be many of them, but they're out there! Huh..................yeah. The Special Operations Combat Medic Course at Bragg is an advanced course for Navy Hospital Corpsmen assigned to MARSOC, not for Marines assigned to MARSOC as shooters. You have to be a qaulified Corpsman /Medic to attend the course. BTW: Marines don't have Special Forces. Thats the Army. |

Um..... United States Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC)? Started up in 2005 and does special recon, foreign defense, counter-terrorism, and unconventional warfare. As far as the medic thing goes, I would figure (and did some research on the subject) that Marines CAN have some combat medical training, correct? If anyone is interested in reading some reviews... http://forums.projectfanboy.com/showthread.php?t=3945http://herospy.com/2009/faction-0-review/http://makeitsomarketing.tripod.com/popularcultureblog/index.blog?from=20090805http://interestingfodder.typepad.com/interesting_fodder/2009/08/faction-issue-0-promises-more-awesomeness-to-come.htmlhttp://siskoid.blogspot.com/2009/08/submitted-for-review-faction-0.htmlhttp://www.comixtreme.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49084http://comicrelated.com/news/2676/faction-0http://liambradley.wordpress.com/2009/08/10/faction-0-review/http://www.majorspoilers.com/archives/21408.htm/ <-- more an FYI than reviewhttp://fbombcast.wordpress.com/2009/08/14/faction-0-the-familiar-and-fantastical/ MARSOC is Special Forces, though. Has been since 2005, hasn't it? Also, wouldn't you figure that Marines WOULD have some advanced medic training, at least some? Last edited by AFSteliga; August 16th, 2009 at 01:54.. MARSOC would be considered a Special Operations Force, but they are NOT Special Forces. The Special Forces is a unit within the US Army, also known as the Green Berets. As for the combat medical training, I wouldn't be able to answer that without pulling something out of thin air. However, it is reasonable to assume that combat troops (Marines or otherwise) would have, at the very least, First Aid training. Again, I can't answer for sure seeing as I'm not a combat troop. 03, you have another take on this?

You get advanced combat life saver training as a MARSOC shooter. Not Medic/Corpsman/ Aid Man training. Medical personnel in MARSOC are Navy Corpsman, they attend the Special Operations Combat Medic course at Bragg. When they attend they attend under the auspices of MARSOC, Lastbard I'm fully aware of what MARSOC is when it was founded, what it's mission is and who is assigned. You are wrong, the Marine Corps does not have Medics. Marines do not attend SOCM course at Bragg because you have to be a Corpsman/Medic already to attend the course, it's an advanced course. MARSOC is a Special Operations Force, SEAL's Special Operations Force, PJ & CCT's Special Operations Force, ................ United States Army Special Forces are the Special Forces............................get right or go home. MARSOC= Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command again last bard your wrong.
