Topic: Need help with equipment

I'm planning a backpacking trip with some good friends, but they likely don't have good hiking boots for the terrain. I'm traveling in Idaho, in the Sawtooth mountain range. Can anyone give me advice on a good boot that's a compromise between price and performance?
