pfft, im sure this list of "demands" will be given all the careful consideration that they deserve.


in saying that, this particular statement rings true for me;

"Muslims need legal protection against the desecration of the Prophet Muhammad, maybe something similar to the protection enjoyed by Jews and homosexuals."

this isn't a silly request, as minority's DO need protection


it's was a really difficult arguement for me, that whole cartoon thing, for freedom of expression and press is something that democracy NEEDS to survive, but at the same time, the cartoon controvosy gave bigots all over a great chance to trumpet and put their own hateful messages out.

and especially when it comes to Islam and hate speech....NO side of the fight has clean hands

If that is the case how about him answering what happened to the two "terror suspects" the Egyptian government managed to get deported against a promise of treatment according to the Geneva convention.

They were tortured, beaten to pulp and then tossed in jail to rot away..

Well I had a long a detailed speech prepared but in the end its easier to just say screw them.

Laws should be made with the rights of individuals in mind not the wishes of religions (any religion).

They don't like it? Then they can go back to their damn sand box.

The clean hands quote is particularly ironic in today's circumstances. I would suggest that one side has remarkably clean hands . The other side promotes hatred, bigotry, death to all of other beliefs, the annihilation of Jews, and in some cases, christians. In many cases they are no longer minorities of any consequence, so their demands become louder.The old name of the game was Danegeld. I must stop at this point before my patience is exhausted.

your point was exhausted when you tried to suggest that "good christian"tm hands are squeaky clean.

the holocaust, crusades, the slave trade, the inquisition, current attitudes towards gays, and seeing members of other faith as conversion fodder....clean hands indeed

I thought we were discussing the current situation before us when you talk of lack of 'clean hands' in this thread. I was not understanding it as a history lesson.

Can we get back to the issue in question; ie. The Moslem countries countries aligned against Sweden on this subject. Has Sweden not 'clean hands' on this score?The western democracies are under severe attack from militant Islamic ideologies, and those who roll over to be tickled are doing the world grave injury. Under this assault, it is important to hold to our cultures and democratic principles.

Please don't attempt to reject serious opinion by hurling the same old cliches. It is unnecessary and avoids the real issue under discussion.

How do you feel that this post has any bearing on what we were discussing?
Moslem (Egypt in particular) countries trying to rewrite Swedish law.

Do you feel they should be allowed to do so?
If so please indicate to me where Sweden were involved in ANY of the examples you posted above.

If you just felt this was a good time to preach that christians are not the best people in the world please do so in another thread.
I as a Swedish citizen feel that this topic (the one indicated in the title of this thread) is serious enough to deserve it´s OWN thread.

Christianity bashing could be done in it´s own thread if you feel that strongly about that subject.
