I think for Scotland it would have to be either WW1 or WW2. I don't think that i've been in a village or town or city in scotland (or britain for that matter) that has not got a memorial to the fallen with a wreath of poppies laid out upon it.

jeruirity....I did here that there are two small towns in Scotlan that never lost a man in both world wars and that because of that they don't have a war memorial. I can't remember which ones they are, but they must be very lucky if you get called up from there.
