| The fire is everything... ![]() | One of my 1352 other ideas for the site is to make a Military Cadence Calls/Military Songs section. I have a whole bunch of them after 10 years in the Army.... Heard a couple of other versions of this one too. I think it's sung to the tune of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic". |

| Optio | I'm familiar with a variation of it called 'Blood on the Risers,' which is an American paratrooper song. Quote:

| Tirones | Blood on the Risers is one of my favorites. Here's an few alternate chorus' Gory, gory what a helluva way to die with a rifle on your back and you're fallin' from the sky gory, gory what a helluva way to die and he ain't gonna jump no more! gory, gory what a helluva way to die when you're fallin' from a plane and you don't know how to fly gory, gory what a helluva way to die and he ain't gonna jump no more! |

| Centurion | "Blood on the Risers" is indeed sung to the tune of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" but the version I heard the 82nd Airborne Chorus sing has different lyrics than the ones quoted above.

| Cadet Moderator ![]() | We've got one that's almost the exact same, but it's called "The Flying Fortress". It's around here somewhere, I'm just too lazy to find the link.
