Yeah, I think much more firepower is needed. BP is trained well at FLETC, most are studs but their firepower is not impressive for the job they have to do IMHO.

No doubt they are trained well, they have one of the toughest courses in FLE. It's not the fault of the agents actually out there it's the fault of the suits who continue to put their guys in a position that leads to incidents like this. And the fault of DC who hasn't got the walnuts to tell Mexico City "One more time and we light you up, control your people." Because one of the biggest sources of money coming into Mexico is the Money sent there by illegals, Mexico City ain't go do all to stabalize that border.

Cool uniforms too, dark green, little darker than my username.
Even the women in the BP are macho, they train them really well. I love it how they don't softy up for the women in DT either. They also are required to speak a certain amount of Spanish before they graduate. Of course, they teach them that as well in their academy. I kind of think it wouldn't be a bad idea to make that law enforcement wide thing in this country but that's just my opinion and who the fudge am I?
DC is very frustrating, I don't like how we have two BP Agent's sittin in prison now while the druggy is walking free just because he was supposedly an informer. Hopefully, President Bush releases them before he's finsihed.

You can lay the conviction of BP Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compeon at the feet of Western District of Texas US Attorney "Red" Johnny Sutton. Sutton Prosecuted due the request of the Mexican Goverment because the drug runner was a Mexican Citizen.

But did you know "Red" Johnny also prosecuted Edwards County Texas Deputy Sheriff Gilmer Hernandez for firing on the Vehicle of a Coyote that was attempting to run him over and flee? Did you that Deputy Hernandez was within the policy of his Department? Did you know that Deputy Hernandez was cleared by his own Department and by an investigation conducted by the Texas Rangers before "Red" Johnny decided under pressure from the Mexican Goverment to launch his own investigation? Did you know that the Sheriff of Edwards County and the Texas Rangers formly protested the investigation to the United States Attorney General and they were ignored?

Did you know in both of these cases that the USAO granted border crossing cards, visas and other amenities to the witness"s? Including Per Diem and lodging?

Now keep in mind that all this was done in order to appease a corrupt and demanding Mexican Goverment who seems to believe it's citizen's should have carte blanche to break the laws in this country without fear of punishment in our courts or prisons and simply be returned to Mexico.

Did you know that Mexico has filed a lawsuit to stay the execution of Juan Medellin a Mexican National convicted of the double rape/ murder of a 14 and a 16 year old girl in Houston in 1993 and got the UN to issue a stay from their court? In this case however the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals namely Judge Cochran has told Mexico and the UN to go pizz up a rope.

And a very lenient ROE will do.

Just inform the Mexican Government that if it happens again the US will send troops (or aircraft as needed) back over the border to capture the offenders. It's up to them.

We would, except for the fact that *somebody* sent them to Iraq as well as the Army and most importantly the Texas National Guard whose job this should be.

"When the cats away, the mice will play" as the saying goes...

Still, even if the drug trade is good for the Mexican economy, the Mexican government is still risking a huge international incident with its northern neighbor by having its troops over the border.

Wars have gotten started that way...

Sure, we should wait until "somebody" issues them white flags and brings them all back from wherever they are and then discharges them and cuts the military funding to the bone again. This coming from someone who just knocked isolationism because it facilitated both world wars.
You can't have it both ways. We have the resources to protect our borders and protect our interests anywhere. We just need to use them efficiently. The borders need to be tightened up. Drug runners, illegal aliens, and terrorists all have way too easy access to the U.S..
If you want to come here, do it legally. Our borders need to be not just protected but secured.
