| Optio | Post; MEUsWould y'all tell me the advantages/disadvantages of being in an MEU as opposed to a regular Marine Unit? Also, how one would go about getting into an MEU...as an 0311 or 0302? Thanks. Lamm

| Tribunus Laticlavius | A MEU is a Marine Expeditionary Unit, the name implies that it would need some form of ground combat capability. So I would think that yes, they would need most or all of the 03xx field. But as far as I know it is better to be on a MEU as you hit different ports of call. I myself have yet to be deployed so this is all second hand knowledge.

| Milforum Moderator ![]() | If your Bn is designated as a MEU/MEU/SOC. Then you'll be in a MEU. An individual Marine doesn't in most cases "get in a MEU" his unit is assigned the role by MEF.
