MBDA, Thales in running for Oman anti-air missile contract - report

PARIS (Thomson Financial) - Missile manufacturer MBDA, which is 37.5 pct-owned by EADS, and defence group Thales are currently competing for a contract in Oman with Air Defence anti-air missile systems, French business daily La Tribune reported without indicating its sources.
According to information obtained by the paper, MBDA is offering its new VL Mica surface-to-air missile, while Thales' is offering its Crotale surface-to-air system.

I didn't know much about this system so I posted a link or two about it. After reading these I can assume that Russia might do the same with there AA-11 and AA-12? The idea seems very cost effective take a functional weapon and mounted or join it to a new platform.
