You're right bulldogg, of course. On March 29, 1973, two months after signing the Vietnam peace agreement, the last U.S. combat troops left South Vietnam when the Hanoi communists freed American prisoners. However, seven thousand or so "U.S. DOD employees" remained in South Vietnam to help them with the ongoing battle with North Vietnam.
