Any info on this great man? I heard that if he didnt die(1943 B-29 crash), he would of commanded the allies in Europe?

He was an air force officer, so while he may have been acceptable to command the US forces in the period when only the air force was in combat, I doubt the Army would have accepted him commanding land forces in the invasion.
