Ok, here's the situation, my grandpa served in Korea and according to my uncle he would really like to own an M-1 Garand. For some reason this task falls upon me since I was the one who joined the Army, so now I am asking anyone out there who may know a little more about how to purchase a firearm one simple question. How would I go about purchasing an M-1 Garand? I would greatly appreciate any help on this issue. Also, my uncle's said that if I could get my hands on some grenades it would improve our Fourth of July celebrations considerably.

Well, I got good news and bad news.

I can help you getting a M1 Garand.

There is one company that currently makes brand new M1 Garands. Springfield Armory (http://www.springfield-armory.com/pr...1-garand.shtml)

You can also get a M1 garand from the Civilian Marksmenship Program (http://www.odcmp.com/Services/Rifles/m1garand.htm).

You can try getting them at your local gun show or also through your local gun shop.

I don't know the laws of South Dakota regarding firearms. But federal law states that one FFL holder and ship a firearm to another FFL holder. Your local gun shop. There is a magazine called "Shotgun News" that is kinda like the auto trader/classified ads of firearms. Many people and companies sell firearms (M1 Garand) through Shotgun News. Yoy can buy a rifle out of state and have it shipped to a local FFL Holder. The Gun Store onwer will charge you a transfer fee. Something like $35.

In the end, you can get a rifle ranging in price from $400 USA - $2,000 USA.

Also there are two onlone sources like ebay. Expect they do firearms only. The same rules apply. FFL Transfer.

Lastly before I forget. You can apply for a 03 FFL C&R License. C&R stands for Curio and Relics. Firearms that are fifty years old or more. The M1 Garand does fall under the ATF C&R List.
