Libya's Col. Gadhafi to visit France

PARIS: France has invited Libyan leader Col. Moammar Gadhafi for a visit, the president's office said Sunday.
The presidential Elysee Palace, however, did not confirm a newspaper report that the visit was set for December. However, a senior Libyan official said that December was set out in the invitation — but that Gadhafi had yet to accept.
The weekly Le Journal du Dimanche said the visit would take place either immediately before or immediately after a Dec. 8-9 summit in Lisbon, Portugal between the European Union and African heads of state. The paper, citing diplomatic sources, said the Darfur conflict would be among items on the agenda.
