The more advanced crap the mask itself probably wouldn't do much by itself, but the mask with the MOPP suit would work most likely.

That will change immediately if you get gassed.
I would suggest you bring it up to the powers that be because you guys are great, wouldn't you taken out by something that could have been, planned for, trained for and executed when the need arises. I am sure the American military would love to help you out as you folks are a wonderful, strong ally.

We have the gear, and the training. It is just impracticle. There is no chemical threat in Aghanistan and the blokes carry enough as it is.

I guess you haven't seen many older privates. I know that the way we look at our ranks is different to the way you do in the US. A bloke could be a Private for 10 or more years before becoming a Corporal. I've got a couple of Privates who are in their mid-40s due to the fact that they didn't join until later in life.

In the ADF, rank is harder to come by, it isent thrown around like I have witnessed in the US forces. Usually, in the Army, a soldier is progressing steadily if he is considered for a promotion every 4 years. Some corps are a lot more desperate though and rank will be given out a lot more earlier, same for the infantry and armoured battalions, as more soldiers are cashing up with all the trips around and then getting out.
