Post; Joint Strike Fighter Funds Approved

Washington Post
April 20, 2007
Pg. D4

The Pentagon signed off on initial production of the Joint Strike Fighter, a single-engine fighter jet to be built by Bethesda-based Lockheed Martin. Funding was approved for two F-35s and materials to build 12 other planes. Lockheed Martin will build the F-35s for the Marines, Air Force and Navy. At an expected total cost of $276 billion, it is one of the largest defense projects ever.
