Unfortunately the guy that wrote it is somewhat prone to tunnel vision as he only see's the US and China as the two waring "superpowers" what he isnt looking at is the economic/military and population growth of areas such as India and European Union it is entirely possible that in the future the world will have multiple "superpowers" to offset any single agressive one.

| Milites Gregarius | The fact that we're even having to discuss this burns my butt big time. If Truman had allowed MacArthur to exercise his command of military strategy, communism would have been driven out of China by the point of a gun back in the 1950's. Another tragic lession in history - when a politician who has no inkling of military strategy tries to run the war effort, pandemonium ensues, sooner or later. In this case, it ensued later; unfortunately, what was later to them is sooner to us. Now we have to deal with it.

Could be. But if we, the free world, had gone to war with China, Russia, and North Korea, how many millions would have not been subjected to ruthless Communitst purges? It would have been the ultimate containment. Vietnam would not have occured... and the list goes on and on. Feel free to check out my forum - www.journalofhistory.com - and join the online forum. | Centurion | China aint bent on world conquest. If the US actually made an effort China could be a long term ally and good ones at that. They couldn't stay allied to Russia because they had a corrupt leader and a rebellious government/society. |
