JSF is just the cheaper version of the f22, idk think it's a bad deal though. The f22 is A#1, but the JSF is right behind it in terms of overall performance. Each one the f22's costs 100 million or something, that's insane. Austrailia is trying not to go bankrupt by not buying f22s.

Are you kidding me? All these aircraft look incredibly ugly.

They could just buy late-generation Russian stuff for less and have some great planes, but nothing that can challenge the F-22. But they don't need to.

This is all from robotech/macross. The zentraedi were the antagonists in the macross saga of robotech. They're the ones the humans always fight against huge numbers with. I like the scale they use when comparing a 100ft tall zentraedi and a small human. Anyway, the zentraedi came to earth looking for that carrier pic i showed which is called the sdf 1. They have A LOT of ships, they sent a scout force of only 3000 or so ships looking for that sdf that crashed on earth. The sdf itself kicks all sorts of ass by transforming and blowing stuff up, it also double as a city for 70000 refugees. Well the robotech fighters pissed off the zentraedi so much that they sent a fleet of 4 million ships to destroy the surface of the earth, which they did. Then the sdf blew a hole through a zentraedi ship which was as long as japan (literally) which wiped out the other 4 million ships as well. Now you know the rest of the story! Btw, the zentraedi actually have about 4 billion or so ships left so they just signed a truce and went away.

And on the jet discussion, i think japan should work with the europeans in order to make their own jet, or maybe even the iraelis or something.

The zentraedi don't fight the human's mecha one on one, that would be like a man going up against a fully armed gladiator. Rather they use these tall mecha of their own that can hold each soldier in a pod and they're twice the height of the human's mecha, but they're easy to destroy. wit the zentraedi it's always size and numbers, they have scout ships longer than nimitz carriers.

the standing robot could become a very good target to shoot at by transforming, no idea about what's in the mind of those japanese,

Wouldn't you want your tomcat to transform into a mecha? I for one would like to see more jet transformers to pop up in modern military designs. We've maxed out the conventional model so we need a new angle like multiple forms and high awesomeness.

Why with stealth technology your vehicle can be the size of a blimp and be undetectable, so there's no reason to try to reduce its profile anymore.
