The aircraft plunged into the Mediterranean at around 8:00 pm (0030 IST) around 30 kilometres west of Sicily near the island of Levanzo, officials from the Sicilian port of Trapani said. Coastguards plucked the pilot out of the water soon afterwards and he is in "good health," the Italian army air force said.
