I'm joining the marines in about a year and was wondering if anyone knows if having a tattoo affects anything when enlisting.

Well I know for the Army you can have any visible tattoos, hands neck head ect. and you can't have any offensive or vulgar tattoos.

It is hit or miss with tattoos and the Marine Corps at the moment. Some require waivers to get in, others are getting by with it, while some are being denied completely. The policy is in the middle of some heavy revamping. Talk to a recruiter.
