Post; India's army

India has been a rising power in the world, not just economy, but more importantly military

The scale of buying weapons from Western nations and Russia are astonishing in India

is INdia's army really a good one? or still needs improvement?

NOTE: NO bashing BS here

The Indian Army has seen a lot of action lately.Due to the constant terrorist threat in Jammu and Kashmir , the Indian Army deals with guerilla warfare quite effectively.
However as far as weapons are concerned they do need upgradation.
And anyways the Army uses a mixture of Russian and Indian made weapons.

I think India should put more efforts in making her own military stuff, it may take some years, but then you will be there.

India does make an effort to produce its own hightech-weapons. They have struggled with building their own MBTs since the 70s, with unsatisfactory results however, many parts still have to be imported.

FlyingFrog what about Agni-I, Agni-II, Agni-III , Akash, Nag , Prithvi etc. etc. missiles and the Brahmos supersonic cruise missile...the LCA....and if you are talking about Arjun MBT taking some 20 years to complete ..we should talk about the F/A-22 Raptor which took the same amount of time to get inducted.
(The defencetalk forum shouldn't be trusted especially because its admin is a paki.It can be called as an antiindia forum.Try to take an opinion poll with any pakistani related military equipment like tanks, etc. and you will see them getting the best rating, no jokes try it out.)

Does the Indians have an army? Or should they have an army?
Look at their people---they are starving to death just because their president wants to build nuke weapons. I have to say Indian economic development is equivalent to that of North Korea---does not apply for their software industry. Any country pursuing nuke weapons without taking care of its citizen's basic needs should be treated like NK.

Simple question. Definetily yes. Especially India's experience in the Border Dispute in the Kashmir Area with Pakistan. Both sides very well equipped and are well trained.
