I think information about these kinds of forces is kept a bit low ( secretive ) donno why but I think so.

There are seven types of special forces known to us -

The Para Commandos - [ for Army]

The National Security Guards ( NSG ) - [A Counter Terrorist Unit] - Black Cat Commandos

Marine Commando Force - [for Navy]

Special Frontier Force

Special Security Bureau

Special Protection Group ( SPG )


Garud Commando Force - [for Air Force]

- Para Commandos -
The para commandos function as elite battle units of the infantry.Their main goal is to establish military superiority in a battlefield and disrupt any enemy operation by secretive means.

- National Security Guards -

The main goal of the NSGs is to handle any hijack situations or rescuing of hostages in kidnap situations and dealing with any high level terrorist threats





Like during the recent seige of the Akshardham temple in the state of Gujarat by islamic terrorists the NSGs were called and they soon overpowered and killed the terrorists

Is a elite force created by the Indian Navy for various maritime operations

I believe it could be safe to say that any nation with a military, even with a pretty mediocre one, probably has some Special Forces. Why wouldn't they? If South American nations have Special Ops, why would India be lacking?

I donno one thing though , why are all these special units faces covered with black masks.

I've seen american special forces ..the same thing their faces are always covered with masks ....even Russian SF during the Beslan seige...faces covered with black masks.Any idea why ?

Identity secrecy. They don't want the bad guys finding out who they are, then tracing their family and friends to try to paralyze the SF units.
