On the bright side though, if you were about to die then at least you wouldn't be thinking about how much of that pay your bank manager/wife/ex (delete as appropriate) is going to be claiming either!

OK, in all seriousness then you probably won't consciously be thinking about anything much at all. If you're in that situation in the first place it probably means that there is one hell of a lot going on around you that's commanding your attention instead.

I think that if you are in battle you fight to stay alive at all cost. I don't think the thought of dying irght now and here doesn't really come up. You fight for yourself and your buddies all that about freedom for your country and so on doesn't mean anything at the moment.

Thats my thought anyway. I have never been i battle just training.
