AP - Chinese Communist Party leader Hu Jintao pledged Monday to make the government more open, responsive and law-abiding while moderating the juggernaut economy to produce more balanced and environmentally sound growth.

I have not been able to pull up the web-site words, but our news media suggested today that the Chinese have made it clear that they will not be moving towards a western democratic system, although they will loosen up.

The reforms were declared by the International Press, NOT ME, to be window dressing and of no substance. In his defense Hu did not say exactly WHEN in the future these reforms would take place... *sigh*.
