I direct you all to have a look see!

Bit on the fence in this one. Although it was a 'war trophy' as stated, as one of the comments said, "a Glock 9mm is a particularly dangerous weapon."

According to the story, Sgt. Nightingale had planned to give it to SAS RHQ as a 'war trophy' - why wasn't it taken directly to RHQ? "Here ya go, Boss. Store it where you will."

Your thoughts...

GO!

It is typical of the mind set of our so called leaders, they can allow terrorist to walk our streets because the are to frighten to deport them, yet they can jail a man who has fought long and hard for his country. His crime was that he had a pistol that had been presented to him by some Senior Iraqi officers for the work he had done with them, and he could have hardly refused it with out upsetting them. Now he states it was going to go to their museum, now why couldn't they then sent it to the museum and given him a rocket for having it in his his kit when he returned home to England

Troll!!!!!!

(only joking Hawky!) ;)

Look at it this way. The minimum sentence for possession of a prohibited firearm is 5 years. He had no defence as its an absolute offence under section 5 of the Firearms Act 1968.

Let's not focus on the fact he's SAS. Would there be this much of a big deal if it was a pongo? One might say that in his position, knowledge and experience you should know better?

Read the official court transcript and make up your own minds: http://www.judiciary.gov.uk/Resources/JCO/Documents/Judgments/nightingale-proceedings-0607112012.pdf

Don't get me started on UK firearms laws, bloody stupid. Handguns and SMG's are banned in UK, yet criminals get hold of them and all what they want.
