I've been reading several articles about the ' US Soldier Weapon' prototipe, the HK XM8, which is being developed - or so I've understood - as a replacement for the M16. I like, at least, the stylish appearance of the rifle, as it looks like the G36 should be.

I suppose that the American military here might know something more. Is it proving reliable enough?

They won't begin phasing them in until next year, so I doubt we'll have any firsthand accounts of it's performance here.
