According to the Sunday Pacific Stars and Stripes, the gang problem in the military is being looked at closer. There is talk of adding gangs to prohibited organizations to belong to. Right now, it is just a general article offense. The article was pretty well written.

It should include a long jail time and a dishonorable discharge.
Gangs undermine those who want to do their jobs right. If I had it my way I'd have gang members lined up and shot for insubordination. I'm sick and tired of people trying to fix this problem getting into problems because no one wants to back them up or the officers or senior NCOs want to get rid of the guy because even if there is a gang problem, they want to make it appear as though there isn't before they get transferred to another unit.

It's stuff like this that makes me hate living in the 21st Century. I like the 1940's because almost everyone in America was hell-bent on taking the axis powers down.

Now with draft-dodgers and whatnot, I'd like to quote my what my stepdad would say if he ever met someone who would go to Canada to avoid the draft, "You can go, but I'll be right behind you to shoot you in the back, coward."

He also says, "You can say what you want, but it when you start to spit at the soldiers who were drafted to go and chances are didn't have a choice, that's just plain disrespectful and wrong. You might as well go burn an American Flag and start speaking Arabic while you're at it."

The reason is got closer looked at was the fact you had gang members enlisting like in california.... a man would join and go through marine training and end up a grunt at pendleton. He might origionally be from LA then ends up back with his gang teaching them infantry assault tactics, how to shoot and defend in firefights. Just watch the news there has been tons of stories of things like this happening. When I was out there a case exactly like this happened where some kids trained by fellow gangmembers shot up a party.

Its a every weekend occurance in places all over the world for the military, Ive seen it several several times. Personel ending up in the emergency room because they were jumped by 6 or 7 of their own branch of service. Honestly its worse with the marine corps from what Ive seen.

References for you of gang / military attacks:

The video with this is extremely helpful (below)

This is what gets me,

"Army recruiting headquarters in Washington, D.C., dismiss the claims as urban myth. An Army spokesman said army background checks are extensive and weed out gang members.

One former Marine who said he knew low-level gang members before they entered the military agrees with the assessment.

"It's very physical; it's very mental," said former Marine Juan Avila. "They'll weed you out. Maybe that was a bad lifestyle you had before, but you change; you change for the better."

I agree with how much of a problem these gangs are because they cause unrest and disrespect in the services. What I don't understand is that they have an almost fanatical respect for their gang leaders, but no one else. It's sickening for me to hear about things like this.

Even though this is a serious thread, I guess i'll add one little joke. With drug trade in the services, the Irish MP's really are after "Me frosted lucky charms".
