Hey milforum it has been a while since I last posted here.

I have been working out for quite some time now however I have reached a point in which I need to make some decisions.

First off, I am confused about which excercises I should do. Because I am headed towards a military career I want something tailored to it. Here's my workout:

Mondays: 3x 40 pushups, 3x 50 crunches, 3x 4 pullups (just started working on these), 3x dumbell curls (20 pounds), 3x Butterflies (15 pounds), x3 15 squats (with 20 pound dumbell), 30 minutes of cardio (jump rope).

I repeat that excercise for Fridays and do a variation of it on Wednesdays. I am 15 and in great shape however I want to be in even better shape. Could anyone give me any direction on what exercises I should do?

Thank you very much,
Pipe Major Matteo

Question about a Waiver for the Marines

I am a concerned civilian who befriended a young man attempting to enlist in the Marines in May of this year(09). He interviewed in Fontana, CA and divulged a misdemeanor on his record that happened when he was 12 years young. Leaving the principals office at school after a meeting he said under his breath:"watch your back." This was post 9/11 and the principal pressed charges. This young man's Public Defender told him to let him handle it....resulting in a misdemeanor count on his record. Now he is being told that he will be denied entry into the Marines due to this unfortunate incident from years ago. What is so striking...had he not mentioned this at the interview, he would have been in. Instead his recruiter suggested he travel back to Palm Desert and consult with the recruiter there. This lengthened the timeline, resulted in a longer interview, and then a request for waiver and denial. My question: would one misdemeanor disqualify a candidate or is the recruiter just telling him that a waiver request was submitted? Now they tell him that their quotas have been met and that he is out of luck. Had he had a father in the picture at 12 years old this never would have resulted in a count...kids mumble things under their breath all the time. My own son was written up by our local police for trespassing when he was young. Had I not gone and fought it in court(which resulted in dismissal) that would have been on his record as well.
Here is an honest young man that would no doubt serve his country well. I welcome any suggestions to make his dream of becoming a proud Marine come true.
Thanks in advance.

im debating on wether or not to go to college or to join the Army right out of highschool. i know everyone obviously would say go to college, but theres ups and downs to going to college. i just want a seriouse answer. im going in the Army to be a Ranger, also, if i go to a college like west point, i wouldnt be able to be in the army at the same time right? if i go to a normal college like UNLV and i join their ROTC will i join the army as a 2lt just like if i went to west point or no? another thing, if i do join right out of highschool and i did ROTC in highschool will i join as a 2lt in the army? last thing, which will increase my chances of commanding a squad when i join the Rangers, going to college then army? or joining army right out if highschool? sorry for all the questions but if you could answer them i could be extremely grateful, THANK YOU:mrgreen:

Everyday that goes by I ask myself what I'm i going to do after boot camp. So I was reading a book I check out at a local library , It is title SEMPER FI The Definitive Illustrated History of the U.S Marines by Col H. Avery Chenoweth, USMCR (ret.) . This book is amazing I mean the whole history of the Marines , great topics from the Revolutionary War , War of 1812, Indian Wars, Mexican War, WWI, WWII, Vietman War, Persian War, Iraq War. From old guns to new technology to heart breaking stories of BRAVE TROOPS who gave their life for this country. If you all have a chance go ahead and check out the book. So now my question is : what excalty does a AMMUNITION TECHNICAN do ? :-D:sniper:

What kind of jobs are avaible to ex SF guys? Do most go into law enforcement or a comparable security officer job? Or is there a wider range of jobs available to someone with so many unique skills? I was just curious because before I choose my Mos I want to plan my job in the army, and after. thanks

I'm sure this questions gets asked a-lot, but I still haven't herd a good answer. I'm 18 and I really don't have anything going for me right now, I've always been curious about joining the Military but there are some things holding me back.

1) I'm not exactly the most "in shape" person, and I know that the training is extremely tough, I honestly don't know if I could even endure something like that. I wouldn't want to put all this effort into this to have nothing happen in the long run.

2) I'm scared, I see this as one of the most scariest things I could encounter in my life. The fact that if I did join, I'd be facing death in the face everyday and just thinking about it makes me panic.

I've been really thinking about this lately, but these things are holding me back. Any advice?

I have recently taken my asvabs and passed my physical at meps up at Fort Lee. My AFQT was 96 and general line score averaged about 130. I am very interested in SF and the 18X program but I am getting conflicting advice from current army members who are not SF. So I wanted some first hand knowledge advice from here. I was told that SF soldiers spend alot of their time with the 11b infantry. And are not as much of a separate elite unit that operates apart from infantry as I had previously believed. Is that the case? And secondly, as I am married, I was told that SF suppesedly has the highest divorce rate. I found that to be odd and unlikely but it struck a chord with my wife as you can imagine. Is SF life very hard on ones home life? Or was that some idiot trying the scare her? I am planning on signing my contract next week so all help is appreciated. Thank you

Okay, so I am currently a high school senior and I will be graduating in the Spring with my Advanced High School Diploma along with my Associate's Degree in General Studies. I plan to attend William and Mary in the fall to pursue my undergraduate degree, then I hope to attend their law school. I do not think I am cut out for the physical part of the marines, however I am very smart and would like to serve my country. It has always been my dream to become a lawyer, and recently a former marine told me that I could be a lawyer for the marines. Does anyone have any information on this?

All,

I am attending an interview as part of the marine recruiting process.

Should I make any big image changes? Appearances are important, whether we like it or not. I want to make as good an impression as possible.

Also, what sort of clothes should I wear?

Sorry if these questions are a bit basic. I don't have friends or family in the military so am needing to turn for advice outside.

Thanks,

Dave.
